The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner has released a document that provides guidelines for good practice and compliance with privacy laws: the Privacy Management Framework.
The framework highlights four key steps to good compliance: Embed, Establish, Evaluate and Enhance.
- Step 1: Embed a culture of privacy that enables compliance
- Step 2: Establish robust and effective privacy practices, procedures and systems
- Step 3: Evaluate your current privacy practices, procedures and systems to ensure continued effectiveness
- Step 4: Enhance your response to privacy issues
