The Long Service Leave Act 2018 (Vic) (Act) came into effect on 1 November 2018, replacing its 1992 predecessor. The key change being made in this Act is that employees in Victoria will be entitled to long service leave after 7 years of continuous employment as opposed to the previous 10 year period. A casual, seasonal and fixed term employee may be entitled to Long Service Leave if their employment satisfies the requirements of “continuous employment”.
